Wycombe boss Peter Taylor will delay a decision on whether to sign Frank Sinclair until he knows what funds he will have at his disposal this summer.
The former Chelsea man spent time on loan at Wycombe this season but Taylor accepts finances will affect his business in the transfer market as the Chairboys prepare for life in League One.
"Things are ongoing in terms of bringing Frank to the club and he understands our current situation," he told Skysports.com. "I would like to see what funds are available first before bringing players in and the budget will have a big say on things.
"I'm waiting to see what other options are out there and there could be a number of different styles of centre-halves out there.
"If the right style of player for us is Frank then I will bring him on board but if I need to look elsewhere for the right type we need then I will have to get that different type."
Meanwhile, Taylor is confident he can persuade captain David McCracken to sign a new deal at Adams Park. He added: "David hasn't signed the new contract yet but we are confident that he will agree terms soon."
