New Macclesfield recruit Kyle Wilson says his experience of representing England at schoolboy level has held him in good stead throughout his career.
The striker, 23, recently joined the Silkmen on a one-year deal from FC United after firing 24 goals in 32 games last season.
Wilson told the club's official website: "It was really good to get to travel that much and visit some interesting places.
"In the games I was used off the bench a lot but it was a real education for me and helped me develop my game.
"I was playing alongside lads like Anton Ferdinand, Scott Carson, Chris Eagles, Lee Croft and Matt Sadler and I was good mates with David Raven who is with Carlisle now. It was a good time, and it certainly looks good on the CV."
