FIA president Jean Todt has called for a shake-up of World Rally Championship events and said the series needs more manufacturers.
Todt has set up a group to consider how best to evolve the competition, consisting of Michele Mouton, Juha Kankkunen, Carlos Sainz, Guy Frequelin and organisers.
"I can't be specific because we don't yet have something to show, but we are working on it," he said. "(But) I can tell you what I don't like in rallying at the moment.
"A world event inside an FIA calendar has to be something which has a bit of emotion and attraction and is a different test. I must say that it's not the way I see a rally, to start in the morning at 9.30am, to stop at 12.00pm for lunch, to go again for three stages and be back at home for 5.00pm.
"If we want to get the emotion of a world event, then we have to work. The working group will make a proposal for the evolution of rallying.
"From the organisers, promoters and the manufacturers, I have more expectation for an FIA World Championship event. I'm more ambitious for the future of rallying then what I see.
"We need more manufacturers. We fortunately have Ford and Citroen, but this is not enough.
"We are talking with some potential manufacturers who would be prepared to join, but we must encourage them and to do that we must add a higher dimension to this category."

Well ger you bit on the bait, you bite on a wind up, you are not talking about why we read these pages , which is motor sport, i leave the door open and you all walk in, so before you knock me look at yourself and ask why you get drawn in so easy ??, and you did not do the thumbs up , good luck jenson for the week end.

rallystage, whatever your driving skills may be, your English skills and your way of expressing yourself through text isn't a whole lot to go by, so far you've just copied what that other bloke said from which I can only guess that you can't think of anything better to say so you mimic instead,
but thumbs up for effort! :)
Cheers rallystage,
Ford, Citreon, et al could build monster engined cars with a passing resemblance to their cooking road models with massively strong carbon fibre survival cells. Give 'em around 400-500bhp, light the blue touch paper and go!
Alan , well said , this has been my point for a very long time,
Bring back Group B style cars - safety has moved on since the 80s. WRC cars might be faster point to point than the old Group B cars, by why are clubmaen in Escort Mk2s still better to watch?
Gob u remain unknown and unwanted - take a hike, why do you make it up - you should be carted off in a wheelbarrow, never sat in a rally car is all i think.
5rally rage u remain unknown and unwanted - take a hike, thats probably why you get taken off - you should be carted off in a wheelbarrow
rally stage you need to do more home work rather than making statements that you finished 10th in rac 1984 so were you called m.ericsson in an audio 80 ?.
people on here are real you are a joke.
The FIA President for WRC should stop the "sweeping" effect by running last to first all the time, instead of first to last. Then team tactics would not come into play, this would be fairer.
toadrage - sori - rally rage you moron let this end and grow up. I dont hide behind a suilly name - I am me and clear and can be checked - more than can be said about you. ENUF SONNY go to bed with a glass of horlix
Rob, Keith and RallyStage - ye've turned this into something totally personal. Grow up a small bit - we all have different experience from rallying from the best days of our lives to the ones where you wonder why you ever thought it was a good idea to get out of bed that morning. Theres no need to get childish and turn this into "my @#$% is bigger than yours" type of @#$%.
In regards the article above which is where all this started - lets give Todd and co. a bit of time to see where they are going and then pass judgement. Obviously there are some clear problems with the sport which I am sure they are well aware of but like anything involving the amount of money that rallying does there can't be a huge overhaul over night. Lets just wait and see what happens next. At least they seem to be on the right track at the moment.
well well well some people just can not hack it, i have feeling that a certain gob has never sat in a rally car at all,
and is very good at fairy stories , and to call mr todt a pig faced frog is sick,I must say you really are the most obnoxious little c@@@ I ever came across.

Rallystage - after 15 or more years I spent rallying more or less every weekend - plus considerable miles in the 12 years prior in various mootorsport related events - I must say you really are the most obnoxious little runt I ever came across
GOB you must have lots of dummys, you dont wear overalls but a girls blouse, top ten 84 RAC work it out.
Rallystage - I think you are trying to prove something - which makes me laugh. You failed miserably to advise serious people of your background. Mine is clear - and so are my INTERNATIONAL credentials. So I sugest you go to your local cats eyes club and learn to drive - as I doubt you even have an INTERNATIONAL rally license! Now leave me alone please I dont have time for quarellsome silly boys
GOB err i mean rob, who has just spat the dummy out ?, little girl like me me me I I , you are a bit odd when people get under your skin, as for the internationals Shirley' did quite a few so put that in your KE10.
Kieth - the Corolla was a great car and I borrowed one a couple of times. By the way I was living in Greece for 30 years and all my rallies were there including the acropolis a couple of times and finished em both! :-) Did meet up with Riky Burns and helped him win his first Acrop giving him my pace notes for two stages he didnt like of what he had. He won both those stages and we became great mates. Even let me drive that pug when no one was looking on a test before the last acrop he did. Great bloke and a very very sad loss to the sport
