Oyston: We're close to new recruits

Wed 02 Jul, 11:00 AM

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston insists Tangerines manager Simon Grayson is on the verge of adding to his depleted squad. The Seasiders have already lost Republic of Ireland winger Wes Hoolahan to Norwich and defender Kaspars Gorkss is attracting interest from QPR.

But Oyston believes the club is now in a stronger position to retain its top players and develop the squad.

Oyston told the club's official website: "Simon has been on the look out and having discussions with agents for months now and getting to the stage where we have put in offers for one or two players.

"Hopefully we will have one or two signings to add in the next day or two.

"We are in a position now where we are comparatively strong and we can put bids in for players. We can also bring players in for decent Championship salaries and that enables us to make a serious attempt to retain our better players."
