Middlesbrough defender David Wheater has set his sights on ensuring he remains a member of Fabio Capello's England squad this season. The 21-year-old broke into the Boro fold last season and was rewarded for his fine form with a call up to Capello's England squad, and although he has not yet been selected to win a cap, he is keen to remain in the manager's thoughts.
He told the club's official website: "There are the World Cup qualifiers coming up and I would really love to be in the next England squad.
"First things first, I need to perform well for Middlesbrough. That's my first priority.
"But if I can do that and build on what I achieved last season then it gives me a chance of keeping in the England squad."
