Villa Reject Fresh Barry Bid

Wed 02 Jul, 11:09 PM

Aston Villa have confirmed they have rejected a "renewed offer" from Liverpool for midfielder Gareth Barry.

Reds manager Rafael Benitez has already had three bids for the 27-year-old turned down by Villa, who disciplined Barry on Wednesday for speaking out against manager Martin O'Neill.

A statement on the Villa's website said: "The report in today's paper of a £17million offer for Gareth Barry is inaccurate.

"The club have received a renewed offer from Liverpool for the player but that still falls well short of Aston Villa's evaluation, and has subsequently been rejected."

  1. its LFC that WANT Barry - if they cant afford him then shut up and move on. Barry's probably done himself no favours at Villa either - but why should MO sell him if LFC cant put money where their mouth is - thats just stupid

  2. Let MO have Barry, it's gone on long enough. I'm fed up of reading about Barry and MO's demands on his value!!

  3. barry is better than alonso in passing ability n duel..if he plays behind gerrard liverpool wil b more offensive side...wit alonso liverpool always play defensive...think tactically n not only bcoz spain has won euro....silva?? oh he is defenitely worth more than rafa cud afford to buy...so he is not an option...if u have limited kitty u need to be realistic

  5. get silva is a more realistic buy. I wonder why liverpool isnt linked to joaquim this season. If RB really love spanish so much, he must get the 2 must-buy wingers in spain. FORGET ABOUT BARRY. I like what u guys think, he and alonso has the same quality. The only positive i see for buying barry is that when premiere league changes their rule to the 6+5 rule.

  6. gareth barry will help lfc win the premier league and will be an anfield hero ...@#$% aston villa and martin o neil

  7. Rafa, just keep Alonso in Liverpool and forget about Barry. Alonso didn't short of the qualities Barry has. Save the 17m for better and younger player investment.

  8. KNOWN WONDER WHY WOULD HE WANT TO JOIN YOU RED @#$% YOU WONT GET ANYONE THAT GOOD YOU DIRTY CHEATING RED BAST**DS

From frank r, on Thu 3 Jul 2:41AM
  9. I'd take 15m for him now. Unfortunately some of Barry's value was due to him being respected and revered as a man, not just as a player, and sadly he has lost that with his recent antics so ship him out.

  10. MO is just being stupid if he thinks barry is worth 17m.when hes trying to buy a player the price goes down,8m for crouch hes a joke MO if I was raffa i wouldnt do business with the clown.
keep alonso hes a far better player,
also is this what we've come to with the waldolf and statler as oweners no money to spend unless we sell first theyre a joke.

  11. Ur ryte, we dont have to b very keen on Barry though.. He's nothing special, let M.O keep him at Villa n die trying to prove worldwide that he could sneak in the BIG FOUR with his captain. We should be more focused on keeping Alonso as i think we could bring the best out of him next season, n come on Rafa, get other quality players as we have faith n believe in you!! Give us that bloody TITLE this season~!!

From el nino, on Thu 3 Jul 1:50AM
  12. forget Barry. why you'd sell Alonso to get Barry is beyond me. get your starting 11 right for the Premier League and half the problems will be gone.

    From duran2reloaded, on Thu 3 Jul 1:47AM
  13. Keep Alonnso we don't need Barry. 17m i wouldn't pay 10m

From BRIAN D, on Wed 2 Jul 11:39PM
  14. O'Neil is a TOOL....... I agree that Barry is not worth 17m, but for that money think what Villa could do. The players they could sign with that money that willbe around for the next 10-15 yaers. Barry is lucky is he has 5 left. Villa are trying to be smart and it will backfire in thier faces. Liverpool will have the last laugh.

  15. Keep him he aint worth half of that lets get Silva
