Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has promised to "deal with the situation" after Olivier Kapo and Franck Queudrue failed to turn up to the club's first day back at training.
The pair, who have both been linked with summer moves away from St Andrews, will now have to explain their actions to the Blues boss as he looks to prepare the midlands outfit for a tough Championship campaign.
McLeish told the club's official website: "It has been reported Franck said he didn't know the date to return to training but all the players were told the date and they turned up. He'll have to explain that one.
"Olivier Kapo has indicated he was staying over in France to have an operation on his hand but we don't know much more than that.
"We pay handsome wages to the players and they should be reporting to our medical team first and foremost if there's a problem of any kind."

I hope AMc doesn't react with selling Kapo, we need him for the season ahead...
for which i feel we need a real goal-getter that will continue to score in the top-flight, Phillips is a good start, with his experience he could mentor a younger striker through out the season and really boost our prospects in front of goal...
Plus i think the Board will be unhappy (as will i, like that matters) with anything less then 1st this year...
KEEP RIGHT ON
I think we have an exciting season ahead of us.
We are defo top six & hopefully top two.
lol very funny how long did it take u to think of that one. N*O*B KRO
I'm more surprised that the others bothered to come back
