Bulgaria poised to ink Grand Prix contract

Thu, 02 Jul 15:09:16 2009

Bernie Ecclestone will meet with a delegation from Bulgaria next weekend in view of adding the name of the south-eastern European republic to the Formula One calendar.

We reported in March that the Bulgarian Motorcycle Federation was in talks with the F1 Chief Executive and assigning funds to build a bespoke Formula One circuit.

Representatives of the race organising committee have now been formally invited to the Nurburgring next weekend to meet with Ecclestone, the Focus news agency said on Thursday.

It is claimed the race promotion contract, to be initially for 2011 through 2015 and with an option to extend further, could be signed at the German Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Ecclestone will reportedly also meet with Baden-Wurttemberg premier Gunther Oettinger at the Nurburgring, in a bid to rescue embattled Hockenheim's Formula One round.

  1. larson sunita139 is one of the many IDs of a sex pervert called NICK REES, pitcrew is another one. He specialises in harlots with whipps & chains and has absolutely NO knowledge of F1.

He likes to use girl's names and we have even tracked some of his IDs in Feminist sites. We have also tracked some of his IDs in porn sites as well. Simioni44 has a login on Sexe Tube - whatever that might be.

We are a group of concerned parents who live near this low life and we are keeping an eye on him.

  2. Sunita139, No there arent any innocents left in Bulgaria because they have all already been screwed by Ecclestone! How can one of the poorest nations in Europe accumulate the capital to build, not only a racing facility, but the basic four and five star hotel and restaurant infrastructure to accomodate a crown that demands such facilities and will not return if they are not available from the start? In short, Bulgaria is as broke as Bernie is.

they seem well supplied with straw bales to line tracks

Prisoners could be released from jail for a day to fill the empty trackside seating ..?

perhaps he should spend a few more weeks in residence to categorise the different whipps groups

Is he certain Bulgaria has sufficient capacity for his interests

  6. adrian w, I like that idea, now that would be a great GP, in fact I think I would even try to go and see that one. They could use banks of penguins instead of tyres.

  7. Anywhere that Bernie can fleece innocent race promoters, is up for selection now that CVC and FOM are so deeply in debt and have no other way to increase potential income. If Turkey was bad for spectators, Hungary will probably be even worse, since the track is so isolated. Bulgaria? What have these poor people done to piss off the Pope? Or is this just another of Bernies' loosely disguised attempts to extort an even larger fee from an existing F1 venue? Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

  8. Seriously? Bulgaria? Yeah...that makes sense. Not. But then again all Bernie cares about is filling his pocket with $30m+. As long as he gets his money he doesn't care where the racing is held. Thanks for caring about the real formula 1 fans in France, USA, Canada, and the other logical places to hold a Formula 1 race. Do the race organisers really expect to make any money?

From gegaard, on Fri 3 Jul 1:41PM
  9. South pole GP?? They could fill the stands with penguins, like they had to do in China. Oh sorry, that was the Chinese Army personnel. May still get more spectators than in Turkey though.

  11. You guys don't seem to remember about a month ago that Hungaroring is likely to lose it's race after 2012. This is likely it's replacement. Then again, if they wanted a Eastern European race to replace Hungray, why not Brno? Fun track to race at in rFactor.

  13. From sdcharger717, on Thu 2 Jul 5:27PM: "Bulgaria????? Whats next, the Grand Prix of Translvania? How about the Grand Prix of The South Pole?"

If they can cough up Bernie's fee, I'm sure he'd accept them.

  15. Bulgaria????? Whats next, the Grand Prix of Translvania? How about the Grand Prix of The South Pole? When will Bernie understand that the core fan base is at the historic, traditional circuits of Europe and North America. Just because they don't have hot and cold running champagne dosen't mean they are not great tracks for racing. Max will be gone soon, now we have to get rid of Mr. E.

    From sdcharger717, on Thu 2 Jul 5:27PM
  16. A well known fact that there are millions of F1 fans in Bulgaria
Trouble is none of them can afford the price of a ticket.

From the real adrian, on Thu 2 Jul 4:46PM
  17. Bulgaria! Now that sounds like a place lots of tourist will want to flock to. Not some dump like the United States.
