BARCELONA, Spain (AFP) - Barcelona is readying an offer of 20 million euros for Liverpool's Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano, a Spanish newspaper said on Thursday.
Barca's technical director, Txiki Begiristain, has received permission from Liverpool's Spanish manager Rafael Benitez to make an offer for the 25-year-old Argentine captain, the Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo said.
However, this "does not mean that the 'Reds' are ready to accept" it, the paper said.
Benitez also told Begiristain that he is "not thinking of releasing the player," the newspaper said.

If alonso wants to go, let him,we dont need people at the pool if they dont have heart for the club, all we need is another good striker to parner El Nino and midfielder to replace alonso if he goes, if we play as good as we did last year i cant see any probs, ok real look like they have the dream Team AGAIN, they tried this before and failed misseralby, I can see good times ahead for the pool with the right buys. YNWA.
Rafa tell Madrid & Barca to do 1 !!!!!!!!!! or demand top rates for each £35m for each of them then re-invest it on buying Villa & Silva & toure from Barca as part of the deal
