UEFA president Michel Platini has slammed Real Madrid's spending spree, saying the sums of money paid for players are "not normal" and questioning whether they actually have the money.
Real took their recent spending to around 215 million euros when they signed French striker Karim Benzema from Lyon.
Benzema will follow Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo, Brazilian playmaker Kaka and Spanish defender Raul Albiol to the Bernabeu Stadium.
"Does the club making such enormous transfers have the money or not?," Platini asked in L'Equipe.
"The Ronaldo transfer, personally, puts a question to me, but then, if Real has a guarantee from banks...
"Personally, I can't understand that you can spend 90 million euros on a player," Platini added.
"But I remember the transfer of (Diego) Maradona from Barcelona to Napoli (in 1984). It must have been for the equivalent of 6.5 million euros and people already found it indecent.
"I think there's something not normal in there. I don't like all that, and even less the fact that today, contracts are being signed only to be breached.
"But then again, if the clubs have the money, what can I do ?"

arrogant real spending money for succes dint work for city so why should it work for you. uefas should put a cap on transfer fees and the amount of top players teams can buy. dirty tactics as weel swooping on other peoples potential targets. lets hope they crach and burn and the egos and careers go with it
Ahhhh shut it M. FATINI go for a jog instead of spouting B O LL O CKS.
#1 that's really awesome and smart of you but then Real could buy about 10 world class players for very little money..that wouldn't change anything ...you saw what the players said : they only left because Real called them..thats why they didn't go to united or city...that was the case with Benzema too, united offered more money and salary but he wanted to go to Real, as did Kaka with city in january
humphred t; The caps lock is immediately left of the 'a' key
Michel Platini, may be you are jealous. During your time you did not command such a fee. Please leave real madrid alone. Did they come to you for money.

I think a transfer cap should be placed that a club participating in any Uefa tournements cant spend no more then 100m euros per season. have a squad of maximum 25 players that can participate in first team gamers. Also clubs like real who only buy these expensive players to use there names to sell shirts and stuff should be ashamed. Also wat will happen to FAKE madrid when 6+5 rule comes in as real hardly use 3 spanish players in there team. see what they will do with all the so called galacticos then.

Place a transfer cap so no more than £30 million can be spent on one player?
