Real Madrid have abandoned their pursuit of Valencia striker David Villa after buying Karim Benzema from Lyon, director general Jorge Valdano said.
"Benzema fulfils the goal of having a striker, a goal scorer who brings a lot of presence and aggression to the forward line," said when asked if the Frenchman's arrival on Wednesday had put an end to their bid for Villa.
"Benzema and Villa both have these characteristics so the answer to your question is yes."

Comment 1 - 10 of 10
what about gerard pique and sergio busquets their in the barca team too and their are more but i cant br asked to type and their are more than 6 spaniards in the madrid team theirs like 10 or more
@ First L
big mistake!
in madrid there will be 5 or 6 spaniard in startin 11
casillas, ramos, albeol, arbeloa xabi alonso and maybe silva too.
while in barca 4 spaniard only in statin 11
valdez, xavi iniesta and puyol
the only team has won la liga with 11 spaniard in recent years is valencia.
when barca won la liga with van gaal in 1999, there were only 2 spaniard in startin 11
guardiola and luis enrinqui(former madridista)
then with rekard in 5 years there were only 3 spaniard in startin 11
xavi, valdez and puyol
real madrid have always atleast 4 spaniard in start line.
so don't mix the fact.
#3 "you are so wrong, how about Figo.."
No, YOU are so wrong , pal, Figo is Portugese
#2, I live in Spain, I speak Spanish, I follow Liga. What do you know about me? Out of starting 11, they have Casillas and Ramos, the rest are non-Spaniards? Nothing in midfield and nothing upfront, Guti and Raul won't start anymore, lucky Raul will be even sub at all. Am I wrong to call it that?
Real Madrid were poor last season especially in the champions league where Liverpool tore them apart and buying Ronaldo,Kaka and Benzema will not gurantee them success as Barcelone have the perfectly balanced team.Instead of spending all that money on Ronaldo they should have gone for someone like Steven Gerrard who is the best midfielder in the world at the moment and would have cost less money.

you are so wrong pal...how about figo, saviola,...
what do you know bout RM?you dont know anything dude~
So much for the speculation that Real Foreigners' plan to bring more Spaniards into the squad. Overpaid for everyone outside the country and underpaid the rest. Barcelona will always have an advantage--- a squad that is homemade and home-bred and a squad that cares about the club than money. No, I'm not even a Barca fan.
