Premier League - Chelsea sign Turnbull

Goalkeeper Ross Turnbull has joined Chelsea on a four-year contract after leaving relegated Middlesbrough on a free transfer.

FOOTBALL Goalkeeper Ross Turnbull, who joined Chelsea on a free transfer from relegated Middlesbrough - 0

The 24-year-old former Boro trainee will compete with Portuguese shot-stopper Hilario as back-up to Blues number one Petr Cech.

Turnbull has spent time on loan at a host of clubs outside the Premier League, including Cardiff, Crewe and Barnsley.

He made 22 appearances for Boro last season but lost his place when Brad Jones returned from a spell out injured.

  3. What a great buy for Chelsea. This lad will play for­ England one day he should never hve been allowed to­ leave Boro. He is a far better keeper than Brad Jones­ will ever be.

  5. Why is this such a bad signing? Im a chelsea fan and id­ rather see them sign a free younger goalkeeper than­ paying millions for some oldie that'll only cause­ problems when he does nothing but sit on the bench. Im­ sure turnbull will be eager to impress and just happy­ to get any chance hes given.

    I think Chelsea need one­ world class player before the start of the season but­ im glad theyre not wasting there money on a bench­ warming back up.
