Premier League - Chelsea sign Turnbull

Goalkeeper Ross Turnbull has joined Chelsea on a four-year contract after leaving relegated Middlesbrough on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old former Boro trainee will compete with Portuguese shot-stopper Hilario as back-up to Blues number one Petr Cech.

Turnbull has spent time on loan at a host of clubs outside the Premier League, including Cardiff, Crewe and Barnsley.

He made 22 appearances for Boro last season but lost his place when Brad Jones returned from a spell out injured.

  3. Very happy with this. young English backup keeper is­ exactly what we needed. Couple more signings and I­ really will like our squad. preferably young signing­ again. A young creative mid I would like and since­ zhirkov appears to be coming we only need a young top­ top class striker. African cup of nations coming this­ season so keeping hold of Belletti for a holding­ midfield role may be worth while.

    To the guy talking­ about Cudicini, we let him go for free cause he was­ such a good servent to us. It was a good thing for the­ club to do and he and us all thought he would get more­ 1st team action at spurs

  5. He was useless at Boro and cost us games with his­ laughable g'keeping, good riddance.

    We­ couldn't hit a cows @#$% with a banjo in front of­ goal and with him at the other end, no wonder we went­ down, no enough scored and too many­ conceded.

    Don't know why you let Cudacini go, he­ was a class 'keeper. Boro should have gone for him­ and stayed up.
