Stoke chairman Peter Coates has dismissed speculation linking the club with a bid for Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins.
The Potters have been linked with a number of strikers, West Ham's Dean Ashton being the main one, but Coates said Martins was not on their list.
"There's nothing in that one. We haven't had contact or discussions about him at all," he said.
"I don't know where the story has come from, but there is no substance to it."
Stoke have also been linked with a bid for West Ham defender James Collins and although Coates admitted an enquiry had been made - about the same time they asked about Ashton - talks had gone no further.
"I think Tony Pulis has had talks with West Ham about this and that, but nothing concrete," he told the Stoke Sentinel.
"There's nothing happening at the moment with regard to that player and there probably won't be."

cameron w.he joined newcastle did he not look where they are now so why not stoke they are still a premier league side unlike newcastle hahaha
Nobody wants most of the NUFC failures, aside from Steven Taylor and Bassong, they're nothing more than Championship players - perhaps they should all stay then (and bankrupt the club on their Premiership wages!)?

I know exactly where you are coming from mate; but can you see Martins going to stoke of all places - no chance whatsoever!
let's not rely on past glory.... but give the young NIGERIAN a chance if he will not deliver. bolton 4 life
dont kid yourself (cameron) martins is just a average player.doesnt score many. looses the ball to often. they keep saying arsenal are after him what a laugh.toon fan
is it the credit crunch or what, no one seems interested in martins????
ive always considered him a upper class striker. not amazing but better than stoke (in fairness)
