Arsenal have tied up promising teenager Jack Wilshere on a new long-term contract as the Gunners continue to look to the future.
Wales international Aaron Ramsey, 18, yesterday agreed an extension to his deal, and the Barclays Premier League club have been quick to also secure the potential of Hertfordshire-born Wilshere, at the club since he was just nine.
Wilshere signed professional terms when he turned 17 on New Year's Day and had became the youngest player to represent Arsenal in both the league and in European competition when making his first-team breakthrough last season.
He was also an integral member of Arsenal's FA Youth Cup winning side, and looks set for a bright future at Emirates Stadium.
Manager Arsene Wenger said: "It is such great news that Jack has signed a new long-term contract. Jack made great progress last season, playing at Under-18s, reserves and first-team level and we all witnessed what a great young talent he is."
Wenger added on www.arsenal.com: "At still 17 years of age, the potential is huge for Jack and we are all delighted he has committed his long-term future to Arsenal."

God help the Gunners if we have players like Ramsey, Wilshire in a starting XI against teams of the calibre of Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Real Madrid, Barcelona!!
Out with these average starlets!!
Gunner for life
i think mike (18) must be a poofter from the @#$% side of london!!
by the way man city and chelsea have the best youth system
up yours nob rash goooners
youre sheite and you know it
Arsenal need more to think about strengthening the mascot side of things. That Gunnersauraus is a disgrace with his big floppy tail. Maybe they should look North. I hear Angus the bull may be available from Aberdeen for around 10 million.
This is good news. The lad's a great talent. He's shown he has healthy aggression and desire in the way he plays, and he can only get better with age, since he's at the best place for the nurturing of young talent.
Its good to see Arsenal investing in British youngsters for a change hopefully he will continue to do so instead of going to his home country all the time.
Next season Arsenal will be 3rd or 2nd!
Yes, its all very nice signing up these young players but we really do need two or three players now so that we dont end up with egg on our faces again next season - Mr. Wenger I think you should be pulling your finger out coz its only 6 weeks till the start of the new season. Get Hanglaand from Fulham get shot of Adeybayor and Bendtner and buy David Villa please Thank you x
liverpool no wait loserpool must really be @#$% two defeats all season unbeaten at home but yet no title
comment 9 what has liverpool won lately and when was the last time
you even came close to winning the league
well said shaka. what a great team you support, cant even afford a new stadium. any new player at your club doesnt even feel part of the club till his house has been burgled.
I just love pissing little B. I. T. C. H. E. S. like you off. And I do like the spurs but i am a liverpool fan so suck it
shaka you stupid t.w.a.t wilshere isn't another signing he's been brought through the academy and is so good that capello rated him when he was 16, this guy is the next big thing, so shut ur hole, ur probably some moron spurs fan who knows that ur team will be lucky to make into the top 10 this year, just watch us win the title this year, oh and btw how pathetic must u be to waste ur time on a subject of a team that u hate, pathetic wanka
Another s hit signing for a s hit team. No way in hell will the gunners finish any better then 5th. F. U. C. K. ARSENAL
While Man City,Chelsea,Man U, Liverpool are spending more money than they can afford. Arsenal reward their young players with 1st team experience. We also need to have a good balance and Arsene needs one or two solid players in and around mid field to give a sound foundation to the team before the start of the 09/10 season.
This kid has a lot of talent. He'll be a star in a few years if he keeps up a good work ethic. Now let's go out and sign some present time players that can help the Gunners win a trophy now.
that why i like wenger if though he doesn't spend he cares about the future
this kid was good i seen him in preseason and some carling cup game know we need
some big guys to guide him well done wenger but we also need some big names to
help the youngersta
go n buy players not giving jack contract
WELL DONE WENGER WILSHERE HAS THE TALENT TO GO ALL THE WAY
