Jeremy Flores of France has made it through to the fourth round of the fourth stop on the ASP World Tour, the Santa Catarina Pro in Imbituba, Brazil. Flores defeated fellow countryman Tim Boal on surf measuring up to 1.5 meters in height, in a closely fought round three heat.
Following three consecutive lad-days, event organisers announced the competition as on earlier today. ASP Head Judge, Perry Hatchett said, Weve got some pretty rippable surf coming through today so well be getting underway at 8am with Round 3. Theres a good left-hander coming off the rock as well as the odd righthander at about three-to-four feet, and well be looking to complete Round 3 by the end of the day.
While event organisers remained optimistic with regards to the quality of waves, their lack of consistency has so far dictated heat results, with long periods of flat surf preventing contestants from demonstrating their full quota of manoeuvres.
In the first heat of the day, Michel Bourez of French Polynesia put on a strong display in inconsistent waves but failed to progress to the next round by just one point, losing out to Australias Bede Durbidge. Shortly after, Portugals Tiago Pires suffered a similar fate at the hands of Australias Bobby Martinez, with a lack of good waves preventing him from mounting a serious challenge to Martinez early wave score.
