Doherty to stay with Canaries

Norwich captain Gary Doherty has pledged his allegiance to club despite last season's relegation.

Doherty had been linked with a move away from Carrow Road after the club's drop into League One but the Irishman insists he will stay with the Canaries.

He told the Norwich Evening News: "I had the option last year if I wanted to leave and I made the decision that I wanted to stay here for a couple more years and I'll stand by that."

He added; "It's disappointing we dropped down the league but I feel with a few key signings we've got a great chance of promotion this season.

"You need fresh blood in, people who haven't been in the disappointing team of last season. From what I hear, we'll be getting a few more in so it's going to bolster the squad and I hope they'll be long-term signings because that's quite important as well."

  1. Couldn't we get rid of him and get somebody good instead.

I've said it before and I will say it again.

Norwich are a better team with 10 men on the pitch, not including Docherty. Than they are with 11 men including Docherty.
