Veteran midfielder Gary Holt has left Wycombe after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The former Scotland international signed from Nottingham Forest in 2007 and made over 70 appearances for the Chairboys.

But boss Peter Taylor could no longer guarantee first-team football as the Wanderers plan for life in League One, leaving Holt, now 36, to take his chances elsewhere.

He told the club's official website: "I'm gutted, but things come to an end. I've had two great years here and ever since day one I've enjoyed playing for the club.

"I would like to thank Peter (Taylor) for being honest and rather than me playing fewer games next season. it's better if I move on and look for another club."
