Bristol City manager Gary Johnson hopes the addition of three new faces will freshen up his squad.

The Robins suffered a poor end to the last Coca-Cola Championship campaign and finished up stranded in mid-table prompting Johnson to set about reshuffling his squad.

Notable departures included Dele Adebola, Scott Murray and Chris Weale and in have come striker David Clarkson, goalkeeper Dean Gerken and defender Andre Blackman.

All three have joined City in time for the start of pre-season training and Johnson, who has also added former Chelsea defender David Lee to his coaching staff, is happy to have signed them up in time.

"You want them to be here for the first day and I have been really pleased with the three signings we have made," he told the Bristol Evening Post.

"They are good personalities and they all have got that sort of ambition I like to see. It is great to have new faces and it is something you need to do at times to liven things up."
