Former Manchester United chairman Sir Roy Gardner has become the new chairman of Coca-Cola Championship side Plymouth after a takeover was completed on Thursday morning.
Gardner is part of a consortium of international and local businesses which has taken over the club - and is hoping to take Premier League football to Devon within the next five years.
Formerly the chief executive of Centrica, Gardner was at the helm at Old Trafford from 2003 until 2005, leaving the club following the takeover by Malcolm Glazer.
He has bought 13% of the shares in Argyle with long-term business associate Keith Todd as part of their KKC joint venture, with Japanese business Kagami Group owning a further 38%.

know we have a new chairman its time to get a better manager. we need to get some new faces and better experienced players to push us up the championship table . if you want to be in the premier then better get good players who can score goals in attack ,midfield. and then i reckon play offs here we come .
come on you greens
Hope this works out for the Argyle, I follow the Forest but lived in Guzz for 20 years and always look for your score. It'll be good if you can consolidate this year and move on from there. All the best for the coming season.
Up the Green Army!!!! Sometimes if you wish hard enough it does come true, I've been looking forward to the day Stappleton goes, now all we need is a decent manager with ambition to come in. I agree it will take more than five years we aren't in an attractive spot as far as footie is concerned but also whoever replaces Paul Shakin Sturrock at the helm will not only have to bring in promising players but undo all of luggy's damage.
Sturrock hasn't got a hope of staying past xmas at the latest now his his best friend isn't there to look after him!!!!!
Green until I die....
About time now to get rid of Sturrock, premiership in 5 years is unrealistic players dont want to come this far south. more like 10 years if were lucky
Hope to see you (plymouth) playing EPL sooooooon
