Watford have accepted a bid of £1.8million for striker Tommy Smith.
The Coca-Cola Championship club have not revealed the identity of the 29-year-old's suitors after they made their move on Thursday.
Smith, the Hornets' player of the year who scored 17 times last season, will now be allowed to talk to the bidding club.
Thursday's developments follow a period of intense speculation over the future of the former Derby frontman.
Watford chairman Jimmy Russo told www.watfordfc.com: "We've received a new bid for Tommy and we will allow him to speak to the club in question.
"This is a new club that has expressed a desire to sign Tommy."

yes just like you club reading are doing phil so i would keep quite if i were you at least we have signed 2 new players not schoolboys
sell sell sell ha ha
If we let Tommy leave for a paltry 1.8 million, then its tantamount to saying that we are a club with no ambition, no future and no hope. 48 years a supporter and its back to 1960's "sell to survive and to hell with the dream" mentality!

you mark my works its the Blades
They want O Toole craig not Smith
Why because they buy Watford players mostly? I think if Watford have any ambition then holding onto players like Tommy should be a priority.
Its sheffield United
Well thats a surprise not as long as it is not Reading.
