Thornton leaves Sky Blues

Thu 02 Jul, 03:32 PM

Midfielder Kevin Thornton has left Coventry in the wake of his recent drink-driving conviction.

The 22-year-old midfielder leaves the Ricoh Arena "by mutual consent" according to the club's official website.

Thornton, who made 50 first-team appearances in four years for the Sky Blues, was last month convicted of being over the legal limit, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without a full licence or insurance.

The club did not find out about the incident until after the court case and immediately launched an investigation.

  1. Sorry Ray, but i'm afraid the other postings are all correct - pre season has started and we have ssen about 8 players exit for various reasons. It's high time to get the alleged targets in. Nobody is on holiday now so that excuse doesn't wash (weren't they all on hols when we sold Dann and Simmo? funny how we can sell but now buy due to holidays...) anyway it is time to get into gear mr chairman, pronto !

  2. What you don't seem to realise Mr. Ranson is.......
You are playing GOD with not only MY TEAM of the last 50 years but every other Sky Blue fan.
I've followed the City from the OLD third division days to the present.
I've seen the lows and the high of football in the great City of Coventry.
For the first time in the last ten years I actually fear for the existence of this Great Club.
If we do get relegated to what was the old third division I will have seen the FULL CIRCLE.
I truly believe if this happens the Club will cease to exist.
So I say to you "SHIP UP OR SHIP OUT Mr. RANSON"
