Welsh youngster Troy Brown has agreed a one-year-deal with Ipswich and is keen to impress his new fans.
The 18-year-old midfielder was released by Fulham last season and was spotted by Blues' chief scout Steve McCall at an `exit' game for unsigned players.
After initially impressing former boss Jim Magilton, Brown, who has played for Wales at Under-15, 16, 17 and 19 age groups, has done enough to earn a contract from current manager Roy Keane.
"I know from my time here already that Ipswich are a family orientated club," Brown told the Evening Star.
"My goal is to impress and gain another contract next summer, but I know it is not going to be easy."
Brown, who can also play at right-back, has become Keane's first 'outside' signing, and he could soon be joined by Lee Martin, who is available on a free transfer - although compensation to Manchester United will have to be paid.
