Aston Villa have dismissed speculation that they are set to make a move for Wigan central defender Titus Bramble.
Villa were reported to be lining up a move for the former Newcastle player in a £3.5 million deal plus promising midfielder Barry Bannan.
But Villa sources insist Bramble is not on manager Martin O'Neill's radar.
O'Neill is desperate to bring in a new central defender following the retirement of skipper Martin Laursen.
But it is understood there are no imminent signings about to happen at Villa.

martin, go and get us patrick vierra.you dont win games unless you win the midfield battles.
we want players with commitment that aint happened since the days of ron saunders, no villa players have played for villa with commitment, they play for money, or to use villa as a stepping stone to a big club, but they never play for villa, MON cant handle big names, all the best players are been taken, so its not a matter of right players, remember the early bird catches the worm, the only worm MON is gonna get is the one from harewood the donkey he cant even give away. noone to replace mellberg, laursen, barry,
ashley young looking to go if someone pays 26million for him, wheres the depth of squad you need nowadays to win silverware, titus bramble what a bad signing that would be
why would SIR MON even think of signing that donkey. Where do people come up with this @#$%. The papers really must be bored. As a villa fan i fell kind of insulted with this bramble link. lol

" we want players with commitment"
Titus Bumbling fool no thanks, look, media and press, I'm sure M O'n is quite capable of finding his own players and setting up his own man management style for the new season without stupid interjections from brainless reporters!
Bramble oh no no no.We dont have a good enough goalkeeper to cope with Bramble's threat as well. Sol & Senderos please and a full time striker.
as a villa fan it would be good if villa had some fresh players all round not just in defence we need a striker who can do the buisness 4 us rather then the part time strikers we have who cant keep it going all season come on villa get ur act together and start getting the players we need to do well this season
@#$%.t AUDREY G
you took heskey from us whose a bigger donkey than him,no way you would get bramble to good for youse.
Oh sweet Jesus thank god for that!I nearly chocked when i read that!Although it would have made things a lot more exciting!Everyone would have to be on their toe's regardless of where or who the ball is with!
God I hope it isnt true, I know he just had a really good season, but please no. NO NO NO. Senderos would be a better bet or Sol Campbell, hes got a good season left in him
check out the Official Barclays EPL fantasy points! Bramble got more than any Villians player :-)
