Wimbledon - Broady loses out in Boys' final
Britain's Liam Broady lost 2-6 6-4 6-2 to Australia's Luke Saville in the final of the Wimbledon Boys' singles.
Broady dominated the early stages of the match, breezing through the opening set and going a break up in the second to spark hopes of a victory to cheer the nation following Andy Murray's disappointing exit on Friday night.
But Saville found another gear, breaking twice in the closing stages of the second set to force a decider, then consistently staying one step ahead as Broady's repeated unforced errors put the 17-year-old on the back foot.
There was brief hope of a late turnaround when Broady won a break point that would have got him back into the final set, but Saville came out on top of an epic point that saw both players make a string of astonishing drop shots, volleys and smashes.
And Saville used that momentum boost to help carry him across the line and earn a victory which helps soothe the pain of his defeat in the Australian Open junior final back in January.
