Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood expects to sign Tommy Wright within 48 hours - after Darlington boss Dave Penney called for a speedy resolution. An undisclosed fee, believed to be around £100,000, has been agreed between the two clubs, but the transfer has yet to be finalised as Wright continues his recovery from a knee surgery.
However, the 23-year-old striker is now approaching full fitness, and a frustrated Penney has warned the Dons time is running out to complete a deal.
He told the Aberdeen Press & Journal: "If the deal isn't done next week, we will pull it and Tommy will stay with us."
Dons boss Calderwood remains confident the transfer will go ahead, and said: "We are hoping to get Tommy up on Sunday or Monday. The first thing is to get him through the medical and go from there.
"He will be a good addition. He has a determination to succeed here and he will need that because it will not be easy to adapt to the Scottish game."
