Bournemouth have appointed Jimmy Quinn as the club's new manager to replace Kevin Bond.

The League Two club sacked Bond on Monday following a disappointing start to the new season after last term's relegation.

The Cherries have moved quickly to bring in Bond's successor by handing former Reading boss Quinn the reins at Dean Court.

Quinn will be assisted by Jason Tindall and is happy to have been given a chance to return to management.

"It's a pleasure to be back," said Quinn, who took Cambridge United to last season's Conference play-off final.

"It's a tough job, but with the stadium, facilities and players, I'm confident we can stay in the division."

Former Northern Ireland international Quinn's last role in the Football League was at Shrewsbury, who he guided back into League Two in 2004 before leaving his post later that year.

Quinn, who enjoyed a lengthy playing career, spent the 1991/92 season on Bournemouth's books, scoring 24 goals in 54 appearances.
