Blackburn chief Sam Allardyce has paid tribute to injury-plagued midfielder Steven Reid.
The 28-year-old returned after almost two seasons on the sidelines against Gillingham in the Carling Cup last week.
Reid made a 45-minute cameo at Priestfield and Allarydce has praised the Republic of Ireland international's professionalism to battle back to full fitness.
"Steven is a super dedicated, model professional in terms of the times you see him with his gloves on, sweating away in the gym on the way to his reconditioning work," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"He doesn't just rehab his injured knee, he keeps the whole of his body in immaculate condition. He reminds me of Gary Speed, this guy though didn't get the injuries. He does absolutely everything that is needed to get himself in tip-top condition."
Meanwhile, Rovers' Carling Cup third round clash at Nottingham Forest will take place at the City Ground on Tuesday, September 22.

I'd never have got rid of Ince in the first place, they didn't give him the time he needed and the support he was promised was obviously lacking or the time would have been given.
peterjon65! what a sad person you are! how bitter and twisted an old man you must be, no one likes to see those sort of comments, i am the first to seek change and a different style of play but to condem the man as you do is just not acceptable.
try to be constructive at least! do you want Ince back??? get a life mate!
Steven Reid is a credit to the club and himself, but we don't need a big mouth who hardly knows him, to patronise the fellow. He has had a hard enough time as it is without a failure attach himself to try and gain some kudos by being "nice",and on a safe subject as well.W hy don't you do the honourable thing Sham and resign whilst its still early in the season
