Striker Peter Lovenkrands is determined to help Newcastle make an immediate return to the Premier League.
The Denmark international rejoined the Magpies on transfer deadline day having played 12 games for the St James' Park outfit at the end of last season.
The 29-year-old, who has signed a three-year contract, believes United have the quality to be involved in the promotion shake-up.
He told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to be back and I'm very pleased to be here. It was the best move for me and my family. I loved my time here, I love the club and I love the fans.
"But I can't forget that we were relegated. It was devastating and it was horrible to be part of it.
"But that's why I'm back here - to help us get back up and I'll do everything I can to make that happen."

Fattfrank,
I bet you have that un-canny ability in clearing an entire room when you speak don't you.I bet you repeat all you say twice, just to make sure you've gotten you point of view over.
"probably breaking into the homes of the Mags"- It should read squalor as well you pretencious fcukwit.
PS:Sunderland as the highest broadband subscription in the whole of the country(indicating we are all adept with PC's and it's uses)We've been breaking into your homes for years you ferrel numpty without even stepping near the sh.itholes or even crossing the thresholds.
PS: Hope you manage to sort out your Internet and banking issues????
FTM
One good thing about Steve Bruce, a real true Geordie, Gonna send Scumberland back where they belong, the championship. At home to Chelsea 37000, where were the rest, probably breaking into the homes of the Mags. Poor deluded fools, just for once higher than us, must be the thin air up there as it has gone to your tiny little brains.
Besides,
i merely posted the truth!
Steven mate, chill out . . . . i am realistic!
Do you think for one minute i am taking this seriously!
I merely 'play the game' for laughs!
I've had run-ins with this wind-up merchant before, he knows the score!
All this 'big club' tosh and 'my dad's bigger than yours' merely amuses me!
I think most Spurs fans are delighted that we are no longer in the premier league for the simple reason that we won 6 or 7 straight games against them until the defeat at their place last Spring. Although why this clown wants to come on the NUFC boards spouting this rubbish is beyond me.
Cameron
I have the utmost respect for your choice of football allegiances, because it's shared with mine. But you must seriously have a rain check, because you are begging to lose a grip on reality and are seriously embarrassing yourself with your current persona and posts. Please Cameron take time out my Friend.
Toonforever.
Idiot fool,
NUFC have also won the old first division more times than Spurs!!!!
Our Premier League record shames Spurs; remind me the last time Spurs were runners up or the last time they played Champions League football?
Erm, they have NEVER even been Top-4, (NUFC have 4 times, runners up twice).
Oh yes, we also beat your small time club 7-1 in the Premier League, that's SEVEN-ONE - and before that lucky 1-0 win last season, NUFC had won their previous SIX Premier League meetings (home & away) with small club Spurs! Your club is a joke in London, never mind England.
You know nothing about football; i have just proved that point beyond all reasonable doubt so shut up and erm . . . . . . . . jog on you muppet!
Ha ha ha what a sad pathetic little man you are Cameron W. I overestimated your intelligence. You even more delusional I thought.
If I know nothing about football Cameron how come I know Spurs have won 8 FA cups and how many do your lot have? No in fact remind me when you lot last even won an FA cup? Or a League Cup or even the Title?
Oh and you may have beaten us in the FA cup that year but what happened in the Final!! HA HA HA oh and I remember Spurs beating you at White hart lane last season. I'm sure that defeat put the penultimate nail in your relagation Coffin!
Oh and Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer? What did they ever win at Newcastle? One left you in gutter twice and the other got you relegated!!
Oh and again if I know nothing about football how come I know Spurs are in the Premiership and Newcastle are not hmmm?
I respect a club like Sunderland as they are in the premiership and won the FA cup in 1973. They are are the bigger and better club in the eyes of sane football fans.
And check this info d ickhead!
SPURS, man united, chelsea and liverpool have ALL played 2nd tier football since the 60s , 70s and 80s! Oh, so they are not big clubs huh!!!!
What a truly pathetic and INACCURATE post!
See Sean A, it is not us who make things up!!!!!
kanespurs
change the record man - this is the same guff you droned about weeks ago!
We are defo BIGGER than your club you fool!!!!!!!
Go check the Deloittes List of World Top-20 Clubs you ignoramus!!!!!!
YES we ARE World Renowned you Grade-A Fool; ANY football fan worth his salt knows that!!!!
Go to Africa, The Far East, America (North and South) and football fans know of Newcastle United, Alan Shearer and Kevin Keegan!
Speaking of FA Cups, oh yes i remember well when we recently hammered your pathetic little club in a semi-final at Old Trafford!
You know NOTHING about football - YOU are a joke and your club isn't even the biggest club in North London, never mind London!
Why do you stray to these pages anyway?
At least the schoolboy Sean A has local rivallry as an excuse; you are just a sad, pathetic d ickhead!
kanespurs exellent!
but newcastle fans cant see the real truth so they make up stuff................oh and try to make it out as there better than us (sunderland) who yes are in the prem!
The big club debate will go on forever, true we have not won anything for far too long, whilst the renowned Big Clubs and some not so big have done so, many of them on a very regular basis.
However, in terms of non (NE) bias, we are regarded as a big club in the eyes of the majority of Premiership fans, a big club in turmoil, agreed, but a big club nonetheless.
We have been so close to becoming one of the few TRUE top teams, so many times, yet have fallen along the wayside over and over, due to in-fighting, politics or serious acts of stupidity.
What the geordie nation I'm sure would like, is for a quick return to top flight, however, we also want an end to our long standing owenership issues clouding everything.
Ashely wants rid, but he's not a stupid guy and knows he'll lose a lot more if we aren't even fit to fight for promotion. I'm sure he has done what he feels to be the bare minimum to keep us in the upper half of the table till January and/or possible sale.
Yes we hate him, yes he has destroyed a lot of what was previously put in place and yes we want him out asap, but we don't want this saga repeated by yet another with pipe dreams of grandeur.
We want stability, unity and the chance to become, what we threatened to be, yet haven't achieved for so long.
Cameron W what a joke!! your small club is not world famous. Remind me when you last won the league? When did you last win the FA cup? Oh and when did you ever win a league cup?
Your team is joke full of dillsuional fans. At least Sunderland are in the Premiership! Even Boro won a trophy a few years back!
The only clowns are Newcastle supporters thinking they are a BIG CLUB! Here is some info for ya. Big clubs DO NOT play in the 2nd tier division. They also tend to actually win things you know?

Paul N
where are your 'world class international' signings; you have NEVER, NOT ONCE attracted an established world class performer to that Monkwearmouth Monstrosity . . . . . . .. FACT, FACT, FACT!!!!!
Backwater club, STILL in the shadows of the WORLD FAMOUS NEWCASTLE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB!!!!
Deal with it you clown.
Newcastle is such a great club.. If the owner is right after Shepherd, they are at least a top half Premier league club. I'm not a Newcastle fan but I hate ashley tat fat @#$% too.
MARTIN A...5. Do you mean Newcastle let him go, or ( trailer park trash ) Ashley let him go. In my mind, they're two different entities. Okay, ( t p t ) Ashley makes the decisions, but he doesn't represent the club. He's like a parasite who is sucking the life blood out of the club. His mate, Lambias, even looks like the count himself. According to a pal of mine, who takes photos for the Journal, his face is all pock marked. My pal also reckons that it's possible that Lambias wears make up to hide his hideous scars. What a pare of really micey chavs they are.
Anyway. One day they'll go. Newcastle will recover because we have a decent fan base. If this kind of thing happened at Hull, Blackburn, Bolton, Stoke, Wigan etc etc, they'd be gone. Next time, we'll be stronger. Hopefully without the Keegan bandwagon supporters, most of which didn't know S hit from shinola about the game. And, oh yeah, them ill informed advocates of Freddy ( the Geordie thief ) Shepherd.
john.connolly01. I see the clearer picture now and i think your right. Sorry my mistake mate. Ha ha
English. Ashley sees it all. He's fully aware of how weak the squad is. It's just more of the same disrespectful behaviour from Ashley et al. I would truly love to say what I would like to see happen to Ashley for what he has done, and is doing to this club, but unlike Ashley, I would like to think that I have some class. So, therefore I'll keep my thoughts to myself.
One more thing. I hope the same kind of thing happens to Shepherd and Hall junior: Geordie traitors of the highest order. I hope you all rot in hell.
The only positive from yesterday is: we ( HE ) didn't sell any more players. It's not the name on the back of the shirt that matters. It's the name on the front counts. But until Ashley leaves, we will never be UNITED.
MARTIN A, I'm not so sure those critisising the move are Mags. Comment 1 for instance, he went on national TV and newspapers and booked the stadium of shyte and together with his agent begged with pleading tears to join the mackems because they are just so great and he really really wants to live there more than anywhere else in the world because of the crime rates and the amount of asylum seekers etc.
