Great Britain's world triple jump champion Phillips Idowu has been voted male European Athlete of the Year.
Idowu finally trumped his Portuguese nemesis - and Olympic champion - Nelson Evora in Berlin with a leap of 17.73m to capture gold.
The 30-year beat Norway's javelin world champion Andreas Thorkildsen into second for the award, while Russia's world high jump gold medallist Yaroslav Rybakov was third.
Fellow Brits Mo Farah and William Sharman were voted 17th and 20th respectively.
The shortlist for the award was compiled by selecting the top European athlete in each event, based largely on performances in the German capital.
Dwain Chambers was the last British athlete to win in 2002 but, having served a doping ban, he is no longer eligible for the award.
Spain's Marta Dominguez was voted female athlete of the year on Thursday, with Jess Ennis the top Brit in fourth.
