Bundesliga - Injury setback for Frings

Werder Bremen are facing up to the prospect of being without Torsten Frings for some time due to injury.

The midfielder damaged muscle fibres during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Nuremburg, limping off after 71 minutes.

"He is going to be out for a significant time, but we will do all we can to make the break as short as possible," said Werder coach Thomas Schaaf.

"He has given everything he has got so far and played a very good season."

There had been talk that Frings could earn a recall for Germany's friendlies with Chile and Ivory Coast, but that now seems unlikely.
