Johnson urges positive response

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson has demanded an improvement from his players after a below-par display against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Johnson admitted his side were lucky to escape with a point from their 1-1 draw with the Owls and the Robins boss expects a reaction at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

He said: "I need to get things back to normal and get the lads playing like a team which is in the play-off positions. We didn't look like a team which is fifth in the league.

"We have a week to put it right and the games at Nottingham Forest and West Brom will tell us where we are.

"I want us to start competing for the top two and I'm raising the bar. We didn't clear that bar on this occasion."

  1. Johnson may not be a stand out player but does seem to get man of the match quite often. He can pass better than anyone else and makes alot of attacks happen. I can remember when some fans with no brains for football were slagging off Scuse, seems to have died down now. get off their backs and support the team or go and watch the gasheads! If you know better than G Johnson then get a coaching badge and get your arse out there kevin!

  4. it might help if he would be man enough to drop his son, who is clearly not good enough to play at championship standard, we have a player who has champions league and international experience on the bench(paul hartley) who has vision and control and who leads the team from the centre of the park or we can play lee johnson, who can't tackle, can't head a ball, doesn't compete, won't go past a player and his only pass is a 5 yard square pass or back pass to the defence and who has no pace whatsoever, i'm sorry to say, nice lad who he is, he is not good enough and we will not achieve anything with him in the side
