Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown is hopeful that the club will get the green light for a new stadium this week.
Bristol City Council will give their verdict on whether the Robins will be granted permission for the 30,000 stadium on Wednesday.
And Lansdown told the club's official website: "The end result won't just be a new home for Bristol City Football Club, it will be a new regional stadium that the whole of Bristol and the west of England can be proud of.
"It will be a stadium that will be a national and international showcase for everything that Bristol has to offer.
"As a Bristolian, I am proud of my city, and I believe that a facility like this is long overdue. I want this stadium to represent Bristol for hundreds of years and more. So my message to Wednesday's planning committee is quite simple - say yes."
