Blackstock keen to make his mark

Thu 03 Jan, 03:00 PM

QPR striker Dexter Blackstock is out to make up for lost time and cement his place in the new-look Rs team as Luigi De Canio splashes the cash.De Canio has already brought in plenty of attacking flair by landing Preston forward Patrick Agyemang, Hogan Ephraim from West Ham and rubber-stamping Akos Buzsaky's permanent move, and is also in talks with Birmingham's Rowan Vine - whose loan spell at Loftus Road has just ended.

Blackstock has endured a frustrating season so far due to injury and suspension, but he was last term's top scorer and is out to prove he still deserves to be in De Canio's plans.

"Things are coming together. We're starting to see the influence the new manager is having," he said. "I had a knee injury and was then suspended after being sent off, so things have been a bit stop-start for me.

"But I feel things are coming together for me as well. It's not about me though, it's about the team and I think things are heading in the right direction. We've shown we can win games and have no need to fear the other teams."

Midfielder Tommy Doherty has had his Rangers contract terminated by mutual consent and is expected to rejoin Wycombe.
