Italy coach Roberto Donadoni is leaving the door open for strike duo Antonio Cassano and Amauri to claim places in his Euro 2008 squad.Sampdoria hitman Cassano has been dogged by ill-discipline over the past few seasons while Brazilian-born Palermo forward Amauri is in the process of obtaining Italian citizenship and has been in sparkling form of late.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the duo, Donadoni is not ruling out selecting either for the tournament in Austria and Switzerland later this year.
"As soon as he (Amauri) becomes Italian, then we will discuss it - I certainly cannot ignore him," Donadoni told Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport.
On Cassano, Donadoni said: "Antonio knows that 90% is down to him: how he behaves, his effort and workload all put together."
The coach also revealed that 33-year-old Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero is still in his thoughts, insisting the veteran "is not out of it".
The Azzurri face Portugal and Spain in friendly matches before their opening Euro 2008 group game against Holland on June 9.
Italy complete their group campaign with games against Romania and France, and Donadoni is quietly confident his side can add European glory to their 2006 World Cup success.
"Italy has got to be a favourite, together with a group of other nations," he said.
