Chelsea are reportedly set to sign Branislav Ivanovic from Lokomotiv Moscow, while full-back Wayne Bridge has been linked with Liverpool.Ivanovic - who had been expected to link up with Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United - now looks set for an £8million move to Stamford Bridge, according to Thursday's papers.
Ivanovic can play anywhere across the back four, and has won nine senior caps for Serbia.
With John Terry still a month away from fitness and Ricardo Carvalho banned, Ivanovic will provide cover in the centre.
But he can also play at left-back, adding fuel to rumours linking Bridge with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool have yet to make formal contact with Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon over a possible transfer, but it is thought that the 27-year-old is one of a number of left-backs being closely monitored by the club.
Bridge could angle for a move away from the capital as he sees himself as second choice behind Ashley Cole, despite starting the last two games against Fulham and Newcastle.
But the Blues are unlikely to want to sell the former Southampton full-back to a top-four rival.
