Wigan captain Sean O'Loughlin expects the Warriors to be challenging for silverware this season.
The loose-forward has been impressed by coach Brian Noble's recruitment drive this winter and expects them to build on an impressive end to engage Super League XI.
"There is a tremendous anticipation surrounding the club and I think it could be the start of a very exciting era," O'Loughlin told Wigan's official website.
"We made tremendous strides under Brian Noble last season and there is a lot to look forward to.
"Brian fostered a tremendous spirit in the camp and all of sudden there is a real strength in depth look to the squad.
"There is no reason why we can't make a really big impression next season and try to win some silverware."
Wigan have signed former Leeds full-back Richie Mathers, Samoa centre George Carmont and former Bradford back Karl Pryce in the close season.
