World Football - Palestine to tour Pakistan
The Palestine national football side is to play a two-match tour in Pakistan in February as part of efforts to bring sport back into the terrorism-plagued nation.
Many international teams have refused to play in Pakistan ever since gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan cricket team nearly two years ago in an attack which left eight people dead and seven players injured.
"Palestine's national football team is due to tour Pakistan and will play a two-match series and this series will help us revive international sport," Pakistan FA president Faisal Salah Hayat said.
Palestine will play Pakistan in Lahore on February 27 and Karachi on March 2, before a return tour in Palestine in March.
Hayat added that several more international tours are planned, with Iran, Malaysia, Oman, South Korea and the UAE having also agreed to play Pakistan.
"Hopefully Malaysia will tour Pakistan in March this year and we have a planned tour of South Korea in August-September this year and these series will help us prepare for 2014 World Cup qualifying rounds," said Hayat.
