Luiz Felipe Scolari has called up Werder Bremen striker Hugo Almeida to replace the injured Nuno Gomes for Portugal's friendly against Italy.Benfica striker Gomes, who has scored six goals in 15 league games this season, was forced to withdraw from the squad after suffering an injury in Saturday's goalless draw against Nacional da Madeira.

The 31-year-old will undergo tests on Monday to determine the extent of his injury.
