Gray wanted more than Ade bonus

Sun 03 Feb, 05:33 PM

Northampton boss Stuart Gray felt his side deserved a point against Swindon even though Adebayo Akinfenwa only equalised in the dying minutes. The Cobblers extended their unbeaten run to five games as Akinfenwa - who almost joined the Robins in the summer - cancelled out Blair Sturrock's opener.

Gray said: "It would have been disappointing if we had got nothing out of the game but at least it keeps our run going.

"It was a soft goal to concede and we thought there might have been a foul in the box but credit to the lad Sturrock who gambled. It was a fantastic response from my players and all credit to them for that."

Gray also went on to praise Akinfenwa, who headed home his goal with just three minutes to go.

He added: "He still is some way short of full fitness and the last time he had that scoring feeling was probably around 11 months ago when he was with Swansea but hopefully that will give him his appetite back and I am sure there are plenty more goals in him."
