Brentford boss Andy Scott was thrilled with the performance of debutant Nathan Elder, who scored a late winner in a 3-2 victory over Mansfield.Elder had got off to a nightmare start when he put Mansfield ahead with an own-goal, but he eventually made amends to leave his manager impressed.
"It was a great debut for him," said Scott. "He is not the finished article by any means - he has only been a pro for a year - but he has got all the attributes and I can work with him."
He added: "I was disappointed with our first half and it took a bit of quality from Kevin O'Connor to keep us in it. We lacked urgency and energy which is what we are all about.
"But we started the second half on the front foot and imposed ourselves on them more. We did have chances at the end to kill it off which would have made it easier.
"But I would rather win 3-2 than a scrappy 1-0."
