Reuters - Wed, 03 Feb 10:18:00 2010
The draw for the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifiers has been delayed until later this month.
The CAF, which did not give a reason for the delay, now plans to hold the draw in Lubumbashi on February 21 at the African Super Cup match between TP Mazembe Englebert and Stade Malien.
The draw for the tournament, being co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon in 2012, is usually released the day before the preceding Nations Cup final. Egypt beat Ghana 1-0 to win the 2010 edition in Angola on Sunday.

ONYEBUCHI M , Cameroon did play better than Egypt but they didnt lose because of the officiating as you so claim....they lost because of the poor pass their defender made to the goal keeper which allowed Gedo to score, the other goal which shouldnt have been allowed although it was a tough call without video evidence is a non issue since the final score was 3-1 and not 2-1 and regardless without the 3rd Egypt would have won. Egypt vs Algeria was fair and only Algerians seem to think they got screwed over, you just plainly cant tackle that way. Both Belhadj and Chouchi are most likely going to get sanctioned and might be barred from WC which proves that those 2 red cards were correct hands down. The only person which is Halliche should not have gotten the first yellow but then again he tackled Meteeb which could have been a straight red dependent on the referee. I have never seen a team lose their cool so quickly and blame the referee sometimes, the weather the other times,CAF on other occasions, bribing blah blah blah when in fact they were soundly beaten. I do think that Ghana 2008 was much better quality in terms of the matches but hopefully the 2012 edition would make up for this edition.
Actually African cup of nations had it on shortcomings and successes.Few days to the kick -off was a night mare at Cabinda where a bus conveying Togolese team players' was ambushed and shot sporadically leaving many some player with bullet wounds and 3-Persons dead including the bus driver. There was huge misgivings on the tournament's security and progress after the incidence. However,it went ahead. The first match between Mali and Algeria turned out to be a puzzle of soccer which could reminds one of the mystery in weather.Mali was at goals deficits but few minutes the end of the match they equalized and got goal draw with their opponent.
Furthermore, super eagles' of Nigeria started by losing to Egypt and later emerged as semi-finalist while Ivory coast with star studded team could not make it.Cameroun played better than Egypt but lost due lopsided officiating. The snake that touched its tail on Camerounians really bit Algerians.Infact, they got 3-red cards while playing with Egypt.Algeria seemed as the only obstacle to them toward retaining the cup thrice. However, the jinx was broken when they controversially won. They kept the cup unprecedentedly thrice after Ghane lost to them.
Gabon,Malawi,Burkina faso,Zambia,Algeria,Cameroun,Ivory coast,Nigeria,Tunisia,Mozambique, host country Angola and all other countries did well in the fiesta.I hope that other countries who could come either due to one situation or another would make it in next fiesta probably in Gabon/Eguatorial Guinea.

NONSENSE!
I hope the reason for this delay is to allow Hayatou and his morons to reconsider the ban on Togo and include them in the draw!!!!
i say it again...unzip_button should just zip it.....you are a joke since its funny how now the ANC is not so important now that almighty algeria lost 3 games...yes 3 games out of 6!! Good luck in ever making it out of the WC group! This ANC is important....there wouldnt be as many football stadiums or facilities if it wasnt for this competition......now if there are no stadiums in most of Africa then how the hell are the African footballers gonna get better? Maybe they should just all be raised in France just like Zidane & Benzema and other algerians right?
The African Cup is a joke. All minds are set on the World Cup and Mr. Hayatou and his lazy assistants can't even hold a draw. Pityful. This Cup should be played every four or five years. People in Europe are annoyed by the scheduling of this tournament in the middle of the football season.
