Baggies boosted by key duo's return

Mon 03 Mar, 03:15 PM

Kevin Phillips and James Morrison look set to return to West Brom's squad for the trip to Sheffield Wednesday - but may only be on the bench.Newly-crowned Championship player of the year Phillips resumed training on Monday just hours after returning from the Football League awards ceremony in London the previous evening.

Phillips missed the 3-0 win over Plymouth with a knee problem but Baggies boss Tony Mowbray said: "We are hopeful over Kevin.

"I think at times it can be a good thing for certain players to miss a few days training and maybe it will help Kevin. He didn't train at all last week but hopefully that means he will come back fresh."

Morrison is also poised to return after tendonitis, but fellow midfielder Filipe Teixeira is ruled out after suffering a knee injury against Plymouth.

"Filipe needs a scan and he will not be involved," confirmed Mowbray, who will be tempted to stick with the winning team from the weekend, with Zoltan Gera starting on the right wing in place of the injured Teixeira.
