Kevin Blackwell is ready to make wholesale changes at Bramall Lane as his side slide towards a relegation battle.United's 2-0 home defeat to Charlton leaves Blackwell chasing a first win since replacing Bryan Robson last month and the Blades are now just four points above the bottom three.
Blackwell said: "If the current crop of players don't improve there'll have to be a new crop of players brought in - and quickly.
"There was a lack of courage in certain departments and too many players seem to be living off their reputations."
The former Leeds and Luton manager added: "There's still a lot of games to go. There's still a lot of points to play for and we have to try to stay positive.
"All I would say is that performances like that certainly don't get anyone promoted. The simple fact is that we have to improve, and it's a sad indictment that we're seeing that sort of performance from a team that should be pushing towards the play-off places."
