Mowbray's way made Miller stay

Ishmael Miller admits West Brom's swashbuckling style of football convinced him to join the Baggies permanently in January's transfer window.Miller, 21, moved to The Hawthorns on loan from Manchester City as an unknown quantity last summer - but exploded onto the scene with a stunning solo goal against Preston in Albion's second game of the season.

He has since gone on to bag eight league goals - and 12 in all competitions - and slotted a goal in the 3-0 win over Plymouth on Saturday following a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.

Miller has admitted he initially joined the Baggies with a view to getting regular first-team football and catching City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson's eye.

But he has now revealed Tony Mowbray's attacking style of play, which has seen his side score an incredible 70 goals in 34 league goals so far this season, convinced him to sign for £900,000 in January.

"Like all the lads, I'm impressed by the way the manager wants us to produce proper football at all times," Miller told the Express & Star.

"It's the right approach for me. And with the excellent squad we've got here, I see no reason why we can't push on again for an automatic promotion place.

"When I first arrived on loan, my only thoughts were doing well enough to return to Manchester City as a better player.

"But I changed my mind over the months that followed and when the deal was offered to stay here, I had absolutely no hesitation saying 'yes'. I didn't see it as a gamble at all."

Fourth-placed Albion are currently six points behind surprise leaders Bristol City and travel to struggling Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.
