Leyton Orient defender Alton Thelwell has put his knee operation on hold in order to try and help Martin Ling's side reach the play-offs.The 27-year-old former Tottenham man made his first appearance for two months against Brighton at the weekend, and believes he has had enough rest for the troublesome knee to get through to the end of the season without requiring an op.
"I had a couple of injections that helped settle it down," Thelwell told the Leyton and Leytonstone Guardian.
"We will look at things again at the end of the season and I may have to have an operation then if it still isn't right. But at the moment I feel comfortable with it and I'm sure it wont be a problem for me to last until May.
"It feels the right thing to do, because we still have a chance of securing a play-off place and hopefully I can help us get back on track."
Sam Oji's injury against the Seagulls means Thelwell may find himself called upon against Huddersfield on Saturday.
