Rhys Weston has signed a contract extension to keep him at Walsall until 2010 and wants to do "all he can to help the team get promoted".The Wales international defender was approaching the end of the initial one-year deal he signed in the summer of 2007.

"I am delighted. It is a nice feeling to have my future sorted out and I can now concentrate on the run-in with nothing else to think about other than helping this club to achieve promotion," said Weston.

"I have had a great start to my Walsall career but you don't win anything in March, so I will be doing all I can to help the team get promoted."

Saddlers boss Richard Money added: "Rhys has become an important member of the team.

"His performances have become more and more consistent as the season has progressed and we hope that, over the next two years, he will continue to be an important player for Walsall Football Club."
