Premier League - Sullivan keen to keep Upson

West Ham chairman David Sullivan is hopeful of keeping England defender Matthew Upson at Upton Park.

The 30-year-old will be in the final 12 months of his current contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a big-money move away.

However, Sullivan - who was at Birmingham when the defender left to join West Ham for £6 million in 2007 - wants to keep Upson where he is.

"We all really want Matthew to stay," said Sullivan.

"I did him a favour letting him leave Birmingham and I hope he can return it."

  1. So NANI, was responsable for getting rid of­ CURBISHLEY........ at least we have something to thank­ him for then. Lets hope we never see either of tham at­ West Ham again.

  3. To all fellow hammers suporters...... read todays­ article in the 'TELEGRAPH'...... Things dont­ look to good for the future......Green, Upson,­ Diamanti, Bahrami and Franco all to go and Collinson­ not offered new contract.
    Watch this space and­ remember where you heard it first.... My guess ZOLA­ will go and They will bring CURBISHLEY back.........­ looks like another relegation battle next season......­ Will have to Think hard before parting with my cash for­ a season ticket, especially as they always want your­ money up front, and then sell off the best players­ after its been counted.

  4. We just need players that want to stay and not be here­ just for the money !!!! most of them are on good money­ anyway and if they move just for more thats just pure­ greed ! Let the ones that are not sure go and then have­ a squad that WANT to be there , simple really .

  5. Collins is fine right where he is. Upson is definitely­ a better all arounder than Collins. We need Upson to­ stick with the Hammers.
