West Ham chairman David Sullivan is hopeful of keeping England defender Matthew Upson at Upton Park.
The 30-year-old will be in the final 12 months of his current contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a big-money move away.
However, Sullivan - who was at Birmingham when the defender left to join West Ham for £6million in 2007 - wants to keep Upson where he is.
"We all really want Matthew to stay," said Sullivan.
"I did him a favour letting him leave Birmingham and I hope he can return it."

We need all the good players ourselves, Lets make Matthew a realistic offer and extend his contract now.
Then if, in the unlikely event we go down, our assests are worth more, if we have to lose any. Please lets get behind our team and show them we need them as much as they need us.
