Darche happy to remain at Rangers

Rangers striker Jean-Claude Darcheville says there are a number of English clubs interested in him - but the Frenchman wants to stay at Ibrox.Darcheville has adapted well to the Scottish game since joining from Bordeaux last summer, and has a year remaining on his contract after this season.

Darcheville played for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League in the 1998/99 season but it was a disappointing campaign which culminated in the Reds' relegation.

The 32-year-old told Sport: "I'm thinking of staying here next season and even ending my career here, if we can ever negotiate in that sense.

"Some English clubs have contacted my agent but my priority is to stay.

"I enjoy it here, things are going well, there is a good atmosphere, so everything's good."

Rangers have already won the CIS Insurance Cup but have a domestic treble in their sights.

The 1-0 victory over Celtic last weekend put them firmly in the frame for the SPL, as it allowed Walter Smith's side to open up a six-point lead, with a game in hand, over the Hoops.

Darcheville made his Old Firm derby debut in the game, having missed the first meeting of the teams this season through injury, but does not consider the title race over because of the Light Blues' victory.

"The match went very well for us, we did what we had to do and the atmosphere was magnificent," he said.

"Now we're six points clear with a game in hand. If we continue like that, we have a good chance of winning the title.

"I think we have given ourselves a chance, but we can't say that we're champions yet. We have a game in hand but that doesn't mean we'll win it, and secondly we have to play Celtic twice at their place."
